Core Strategy & Corfe Mullen

What does everyone think about the Council's Core Strategy & its plans for new houses/shops in Corfe Mullen?

What Core Strategy?

I heard that a Core Strategy exists. I've just had a look at the Parish Council site but can't see it.

Where can we find out about it?

Core Strategy Options for Consideration

It'll be the District Council rather than the Parish Council dealing with the Core Strategy Options.

The consultation period began on 4 October 2010 and runs for 12 weeks until 12 noon on 24 December 2010 (now extended to 14th January) so if you want your views to be taken into account or to object to any of the proposed options, now is the time to do it.

If no-one does anything, the Council will say that everyone is happy about their plans because no-one objected during the Consultation Period.

Have a look at http://www.dorsetforyou.com/399709

There are a number of Public Exhibitions being held in different areas that will outline the options being considered. The one in Corfe Mullen is on Saturday 4 December at Corfe Mullen Village Hall from 9.30am - 12.30pm. It's important that as many people from Corfe Mullen as possible attend and question any District Councillors and Planning Officers who are there. Perhaps you could advertise it on CMO, Andrew.

I think Cllr Philip Harknett who was newly elected in the summer is the District Councillor representing Corfe Mullen. Here are his contact details 01202 691428 (South Ward) 118 Wareham Road, Corfe Mullen, BH21 3LH
pharknett@corfemullemlibdems.org.uk
but in case I've got that wrong, have a look here for 4 of the Liberal East Dorset District Councillors

I understood that the current Coalition Government had cancelled previous Core Strategies which called for huge numbers of houses to be built, so these new proposals are likely to be reduced versions of their predecessors, but it is still very important that people look into it now during the consultation period.

Objecting afterwards when lots of houses are being built at the bottom of your garden will be too late.

Core Strategy & Corfe Mullen

I've just received an e-mail from the Council advising that the public consultation regarding the Core Strategy has been extended until Friday 14th January 2011.

The Consultation can be accessed directly by following this link:

Plans and comments are available to view once you've registered. Alternatively further details about the Strategy and comment forms are available at Corfe Mullen Library & Corfe Mullen Post Office. As Kate has said, there is a public exhibition this Saturday (4th Dec) at the Village Hall between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

I've also come across a Facebook group which opposes the plans as well. This can be found here:

I hope this information proves useful. I agree with Kate, objecting afterwards would be too late!

Making your views known

There are only a few days left if you want your views on the Core Strategy for Corfe Mullen to be heard.
